This isn’t your typical technical author role. As our Lead Technical Author, you’ll be stepping into a brand-new position where your expertise will shape the future of our product documentation. You’ll join us at a pivotal moment, managing a talented technical author while spearheading a transformation project of massive scale.
Here’s the challenge: over the years, Totalmobile has acquired seven companies, each bringing its own products, processes, and documentation. This has left us with a rich but fragmented library of resources—different formats, legacy systems, and years of backlog. Now, as we move toward a unified platform approach, we need someone who can cut through the noise and build something extraordinary.
Reporting directly to the Chief Product Officer, you’ll lead the charge in designing and implementing a comprehensive documentation strategy. With a strong framework already in place, your focus will be on execution—standardising legacy content, creating robust documentation for internal and external users, and ensuring our platform’s technical story is told clearly and compellingly.
Your impact won’t stop with our product team. This is a role that spans boundaries, working closely with developers, product managers, and teams across the business to deliver documentation that empowers customers and drives usability.
Skills and Experience
You will need a Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Computer Science, or a related field. You bring at least three years of experience in technical writing including team leadership responsibilities, with a proven ability to simplify complex concepts and create clear, engaging documentation. We’re looking for someone with a background in SaaS and B2B environments, ideally from a software company that’s navigated the complexities of diverse products converging into a unified platform. Your technical expertise, polished writing skills, and mastery of documentation tools equip you to thrive in fast-paced, collaborative environments. Familiarity with software applications, APIs, and Agile methodologies is a bonus, but a passion for learning and delivering exceptional user-focused documentation is what truly sets you apart.
