There are Product Owner roles… and then there are roles where you genuinely shape how critical services operate in the real world.
At Totalmobile, we build technology that supports over 1,000 organisations and 500,000 frontline workers — including those in emergency services. Right now, we’re looking for a Product Owner who understands the complexities of rostering and workforce management and is ready to take ownership of a product that truly matters.
This isn’t a role where you’ll simply manage a backlog. You’ll play a central role in shaping the direction of a rostering platform used in high-stakes environments, helping to drive both immediate delivery and long-term product vision.
The Role
As Product Owner, you’ll act as the voice of the customer within an Agile team, ensuring that user needs are clearly understood, prioritised, and translated into high-quality deliverables.
You’ll work closely with Product Managers, developers, and stakeholders to turn complex operational challenges into actionable work. The environment is fast-paced and delivery-focused, with strong customer commitments — so we’re looking for someone who can operate with confidence, autonomy, and clarity.
This role sits within a team focused on rostering solutions, particularly within emergency services. That domain knowledge will make all the difference — not just in understanding the product, but in challenging assumptions and shaping better outcomes.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll collaborate directly with customers and users to deeply understand their operational needs, turning those insights into clear epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria. You’ll own and prioritise the product backlog, ensuring the team is always focused on delivering the highest-value work.
Working as part of an Agile team, you’ll be heavily involved in sprint planning, demos, and retrospectives, while also identifying cross-team dependencies and ensuring smooth delivery across the wider product ecosystem.
You’ll act as the bridge between customer, business, and engineering — validating that what’s delivered meets expectations and aligns with both user needs and product strategy.
What We’re Looking For
You’ll bring proven experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or similar, within a SaaS or software environment. More importantly, you’ll have real domain expertise in rostering, workforce management, or environments like emergency services where scheduling complexity is high and stakes are even higher.
You’re someone who can operate independently, manage competing priorities, and communicate clearly across technical and non-technical stakeholders. You’re comfortable being customer-facing, and you’re confident pushing back when needed — because you understand what good looks like.
You’ll likely have strong analytical skills, a sharp attention to detail, and experience working with tools like Jira, Confluence, or Aha!. Experience with Agile frameworks (including SAFe), user-centric design, or mobile-first platforms would be beneficial.
Why This Role Stands Out
This is an opportunity to step into a role with real ownership and impact. The team is currently delivering against major customer commitments, while also needing to evolve the product roadmap — so you’ll have the chance to influence both immediate delivery and long-term direction.
You’ll also be working on products used within emergency services, where your decisions directly impact how teams operate in critical situations. That level of responsibility isn’t for everyone — but for the right person, it’s exactly what makes the role meaningful.
If you’ve worked with rostering systems, understand the realities of workforce scheduling, and want to take ownership of a product that genuinely makes a difference — this is a conversation worth having.
